• Monster in the House- Monster in the house is a genre focused mainly around horror due to its use of fear. Its main focus is scaring the audience and creating suspenseful moments. Examples of this include Grave encounters and Insidious
• Golden Fleece- Golden fleece films are highly focused around the central protagonist and follows them and their own personal story. Examples of these types of films include Meeting evil, Mechanist
• Out of the Bottle- Out of the bottle films are more quirky fantasy films focused around strange occurrences happening to people and how they deal with them. Examples of films like this include Bruce Almighty and Freaky Friday.
• Dude with a Problem- Dude with a problem films are focused around the central protagonist as they aim to overcome a issue/conflict which is usually a life or death scenario. Examples of this type of film include Apollo 13 and Die Hard
• Rites of Passage- Is when the main character faces some kind of relatable life problem such as divorce or addiction and the focus of the film is how they overcome that problem. Such as American Pie
• Buddy Love- Buddy love films are films where the main two characters are usually male and have a strong relationship which faces some form of conflict and focuses on whether or not the two will remain together whilst seeing what their lives are like. Examples of this are Starsky and Hutch
• Whydunit- This genre focuses around some form of mystery such as a murder or other crime and follows the main character as they try to discover what happened . Examples of this genre include Bad Boys
• The Fool Triumphant- This genre of film focuses around an unlikely hero overcoming some adversity to have their happy ending . Example of this are Forrest Gump.
• Institutionalized- This genre of film is focused around a group of characters as they try to overcome one key issue whilst also focusing on their own individual issues, such as the Goonies and The Experiment 
• Superhero- Superhero films are focused around an ordinary person who discovers that they have a supernatural ability unique to anyone else and how they use this ability to fight crime and other supernatural beings. Examples of Superhero films are The Amazing Spiderman and Man of Steel.
